Avnet CIO Steve Phillips Recognized as 2015 Leader of the Year

We are pleased to announce Steve Phillips, senior vice president and CIO of Avnet, Inc., as the Arizona Leader of the Year for 2015. Each year, we honor an IT leader who embodies SIM's mission to bring together IT leaders together to share, network and give back to their communities through the collaboration of local chapters. The SIM Arizona Leader of the Year Award recognizes an individual who demonstrates distinctive excellence in leading IT initiatives through to execution, that have optimal impact on the honoree's company, community and staff.

"Steve's outstanding leadership continues to have significant impact on the IT community, and we have been impressed with his ability to put the business at the center of IT," said John Hurley, president of the Arizona SIM chapter. "He has advanced the growth of the SIM Arizona Chapter, inspired the development of IT education through STEM initiatives and actively collaborates with IT leaders. Most importantly, Steve constantly looks for ways to develop people and help them achieve their dreams. That's what excellent leaders do -- they look for ways to shine a spotlight on others, rather than seeking it for themselves."
